NAET: what is it?

NAET, the treatment based on Chinese medicine theory that has so helped my daughter “Shannon” overcome her Asperger’s, works in a mysterious way. It’s easiest to shrug and say, “I dunno how it works, but it works.”

My son “Mike” has been undergoing treatments once a week for a year and a half now, and we aren’t at the tipping point of improving his Asperger’s yet. I hope we get there. But there’s no guarantee, of course. The NAET autism study showed marked improvement in symptoms in 23 out of 30 kids after a year of twice-a-week treatments. So there were the other seven kids who didn’t see improvement … and they had more treatments than “Mike” has had.

Meanwhile, I am undergoing NAET myself, for several months now with our St. Louis practitioner Becca Skrainka. I’m doing it because I have an amazingly high level of allergies, and I would like to be able to do some normal things like wear earrings and sunscreen. (Also some money became available to do it.) The earrings and sunscreen aren’t fixed yet, but a significant difference for me shows itself: I feel full after meals now, something I haven’t felt for a number of years. I’m delighted with that.

So, what is NAET? This stands for Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Treatment, which doesn’t tell you much except that Dr. Nambudripad invented or discovered it, and that its original purpose was the elimination of allergies. Having undergone it myself, I can tell you that NAET actually uses accupressure, particularly on certain spots on the back. As far as I can tell, what the practitioner is doing is manipulating the bio-electric field that the body generates. Manipulate the field, and the body normalizes. Weird, huh?

If it didn’t work, I’d dismiss it. But it does work in many cases, for a variety of ailments, particularly auto-immune in origin, such as fibromyalgia and allergies. (I personally know people with these ailments who have massively improved under NAET.) This goes to show that Western medicine, pooh-poohing anything involving bio-electricity, acupuncture meridians, and so forth, has a lot to learn.

By the way, if you want to see an actual photo of my daughter “Shannon” and read more about her recovery from autism through NAET, read this interview: http://www.jacobteitelbaum.com/health_articles_a-b/Autism-shannon-wheelers-story.html

NAET hits Fox News

Fox News ran a story about NAET, focusing on the news about the NAET autism study, but also defining NAET for the lay person and showing what a treatment looks like. NAET is the treatment of allergies, based on Chinese medicine theory, which often brings relief for maladies like fibromyalgia that seem to involve a malfunctioning immune system. The treatment was invented in the 1980s by an MD originally from India, and now has 10,000 practitioners around the world.
