A.C. Williams, Reena Ellis and the Pink Panda Problem

Reena Ellis and the Pink Panda Problem is a fun fantasy tale for middle grade from A.C. Williams, who’s been writing sci fi and fantasy for adults until now. It’s a welcome addition to the list of middle grade books written by Christians! I really enjoyed reading it.

Reena Ellis immigrated with her family from Somalia to Wichita, Kansas, a while ago. Reena, who’s short and not athletic, excels in the brain department. She’s a computer whiz and more, and she comes with a best friend, Mica.

A mysterious geode in her father’s office hatches open, and a red panda pops out–a pink red panda, soon chased by the family dog out into the city. Reena embarks on a classic movie chase scene on her electric scooter across downtown Wichita, involving a trolley, a truck, and I don’t know what else. It’s a lot of fun!

The panda, it turns out, can transform into a dragon. And the family history in Somalia is just a cover story. Will Reena step into her destiny, with the dragon’s help?

A.C. Williams tells a colorful and intense story, great for kids. If you like fantasy and sci fi, you’ll enjoy it!
